Winning the Best Reggae Band in Brooklyn award in 1987 with his band Black Eagle and receiving the key to the city of Brooklyn, Denroy's influence has been profound. He formed Morgan Heritage, a group consisting of his children, which first gained major attention at the 1991 Reggae Sunsplash Beach Party.
